They are an annual and like sun to partial shade and they love water. The soggier the better. They bloom mid summer into fall and attract bees ( which need saving), butterflies and birds, you can collect the seeds after the bloom dies and replant for next season. Where you place them is up to you. If you have a pond or water garden they would love this area. They are really tall so the back of the garden is a good spot. But they NEED a lot of water.
