Questions & Comments
It might mean it was electroplated.
Large Metal...something? I dunno I'll look around for anything relating to that, but i think it does mean it was heavy electroplated
Well, i looked around, i couldn't find anything on LMGT, so i guess that means this ring is solid gold! They're probably initials or something, maybe a maker's mark
this is prolly a stupid question but i'm curious as to why would "LM" stand for large metal when it's a small ring (well it's big for a ring but the overall size is small) when i hear large metal i think washing machine or something lol but you know what i mean right?
haha that's why i called it a "green tiger's eye" lol that's what it looks like to me too. idk if there's an official name for it-- sorry. but maybe a fellow listia member might...does anyone know the name of this stone? we'll see if we get the answer.
I just talked to my jeweler and he stated no such critter. It's a created tigars eye, not real. He stated that tigars eye comes in the browns and blues, but he stated he has never , in the 45 yrs of being in the business , ever seen a green natural. Sorry.
no no don't be sorry lol i didn't realize the title could be misunderstood. i was just describing what it looked like to me, it's green and it looks like a tigers eye. i didn't intend to insinuate it was a genuine tiger eye. i thought they were called tiger's eyes because they look like one, didn't realize it was an actual stone or what ever. btw.... you should have asked your jeweler if there's a meaning for LMGT, kind of curious...
Also, do you know about how old is this ring? Did your step-father wear it all the time? Thanks for the info. Btw, nice listing. Hope the bids stay in my range. You know how sometimes things just take off the lasy day...lol
Actually , I did and he tryed to look up the LGMT "mark" under his web site that he goes into and could not find the "mark". He stated when some over seas businesses create jewelery to look real and they place a kt (ex. 18kt) on it they must also place theire "mark" on it such as LGMT. It tells experts whom created it. He stated that a lot of immitation jewelery is floating around lately with a "kt" on it and the ones that try to sell it, knowing that it is fake, can be charged by the law for fraud. That's why you see some of the jewelery listed here on Listia stating that it has a "mark" but it is fake. I also was taken by this scam here in Lakeland with some guys that came from Miami selling jewelery and the beautiful pieces that several of us bought had a "kt" on them, but guess what, when we took them to my jeweler, they were fake and we were out over $1000.00
