The listing, LADIES WATCHES, 1950's *MUST READ!* has ended.
Two lovely ladies watches from the 1950's. They are both gold tone non-precious metals. Both still run and would probably keep time if given some attention by a watchmaker. The dime in the second photo is for size reference. These are delicate, fine "everyday" watches that were a quite popular style for the mid - twentieth century. The one on the left is an Elgin 19-jewel with some gold plating. The watch on the right is a Gruen 17-jewel base-metal (and is engraved on the back with the name "Janice Wadsworth" Records indicate she was born in 1941, so this could easily have been a sweet sixteen gift ?) . If you have further questions, be sure to ask! My boyfriend was a watchmaker for 23 years. He assures me that these are nice quality, and that the information here would/will interest other knowledgeable watch enthusiasts. His hands are no longer adept to fix them properly, however. It would not matter anyway because my eyes aren't good enough to see the tiny numbers, lol.
