Well, the top twists on. There is a straw on the inside connected to the drinking part. On the lid, before they drink, they have to pull back this little knob, then the straw shows, then they close it when they're done drinking. Does think help at all?

I'm not sure if it's microwave safe sorry. But I got these at a flee market and they didn't have a matching bowl sorry.
