When it comes right down to it, this is a metal box to carry in your purse with something stored inside that shouldn't be loose. There are many things to fit that description. BUT, the decorated top of this container is different and beautiful. In fact, looking at it will make you happy. Small mother of pearl discs cover the entire top. The light reflects and you're mesmerized.

This measures 3-1/2" across the top from side to side. From front to back, you have 1-5/8". And, from bottom to top it's just about 3/4". To open, you need to push in on lever in front. The hinged back is enclosed. When opened, I measured the depth at 1/2". So, that's the amount of clear space you have to fill, plus a bit more when the top closes down. It doesn't necessarily have to go in a purse. Would look lovely on your desk as a stamp holder, paper clips, extra lead for your favorite lead pencil. Great gift for the holidays that will be here before we know it.
