The book is in overall good condition. There is a faint water stain on the first two blank pages of the book (pic 3) and there is an ink stain in the back cover (pic 4). The ink stain slightly discolored the black, cloth tape on the outside of the cover (pic 9) Aside from those flaws, the book is in excellent condition. The spine, outside hard cover, corners and pages show little to no wear.

The dust cover is worn around the edges but still looks good on the outside. The inside center of the dust cover has a black ink stain (pic 10)

**Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'fore I Diiie (1971) is African-American writer and poet Maya Angelou's first collection of poems. Diiie is made up of two sections of 38 poems. The 20 poems in the first section, "Where Love is a Scream of Anguish", center on love. Many of the poems in this section and the next are structured like blues and jazz music, and have universal themes of love and loss. The eighteen poems in the second section, "Just Before the World Ends", focus on the experience of the survival of African Americans despite living in a society dominated by whites.
