Description

The listing, 'PEARL' Pony Beads LOT! has ended.

These are really pretty 'pearlized' pony beads in hues of purples, greens, blues, black, other pastels.

I would estimate I paid around $35 for all of these with shipping some time back and never did the project I was thinking of using them for.

These would be a lot of fun used for a kids' summer craft project!

My shipping policy has changed due to some real thinking on my part about the role Listia plays (or should) with 'giving and sharing' on this site.

I am SHARING shipping charges because I don't feel that only one party should feel pressured to shoulder the entire burden of cash in a free transaction. Therefore, to help defray costs, I am only charging $1 any item that exceeds $.44 to mail.

For example, sewing patterns that I will be listing cost me $1.70 minimum in shipping but that's not including packaging. Of course, some items will be heavier, but the $1 stays the same for ALL items that would cost more than $.44 to mail.

I will soon be posting items that WILL fit into a standard-sized envelope and the shipping will ALWAYS be free on those items.

Putting it another way: if I held a garage sale and charged $1 for all items larger than a regular envelope (besides books), wouldn't that be cool? So, that's how I am now approaching my shipping on my items posted in Listia.

The $1 can be sent via Paypal or mailed (no personal checks, please).

I'm hoping and praying that more sellers resist the temptation to be led by the "goodies" that Listia offers for free shipping and, instead, focus on the sharing aspect of these transactions and curb the greed with both credits and cash.

I agree with you on the shipping! It can COST more than credits can be worth. but, I still like the site and use it. But, like you I will start shipping cost of $1 for my auctions so I can at least not go broke shipping things out..lol

If you're really active, it can be upwards of $150 in one month. I did this to get established here quickly, but since the rate hikes, postage is a killer. People need to respect the fact that free shipping is a GIFT, NOT A GIVEN. Shawna that stamp idea is a good one. Good luck on your auction.

Yes, and to me, it's the FAIRNESS to both parties. Not just one should shoulder a cash outlay. I'm looking at it like this (even when the shipping is around $5-10): the buyer is still getting the item for free and I'm paying less for credits. If we buy the credits, they're running 100 credits for $10. So, while I'm just charging $1 for anything that won't fit in a regular envelope, it helps to 'keep from going broke' with the shipping AND I'm getting 100 for much less.

Also, worth mentioning: I am accepting 3 stamps in lieu of $1 cash. To me, it's still money and meets the same objective.

Thank you! Oh, yeah: if people don't mind waiting a couple of days and want to send me the stamps instead, that's still money...and I WILL use their stamps towards the shipment(s) of their win(s).

I've been on eBay for many years (100% positive) and have, unfortunately, run into the same auctions on Listia where people are trying to make $....and $ from the shipping. That takes completely away from the 'giving/sharing' spirit that Listia tries to promote.

One guy actually insists, "My shipping charge is accurate and if you have a problem with it, don't bid." Well, heck no! Especially after reading, "it could take up to 3 weeks so don't ask me where your item is."

Ahem. First of all, the guy lives in the U.S. and NOTHING I know of takes three weeks to get to the recipient. Even pony express media mail. Add to that he was charging over $10 for shipping an item that would EASILY fit into a TWO-DAY AIR Priority Flat rate USPS envelope.

Those folks need to go find a way to earn a buck somewhere else. Us 'old-timers' are privy to their shenanigans and have no respect for them whatsoever.
