Yes, it does work. My son has a massive amount of electronics, game consoles...etc.. that I am making him get rid of and some way he managed to throw away the power cord for this GameCube. He used our neighbors power cord to check everything out on it before I listed it. I was going to list it here instead of eBay !!! Please feel free to ask any more questions about this item.. Thx

is the power cord the only cord it needs to work ? did it orig. come with any other cords besides the power cord ?

The power cord , one or two controllers(i can't remember for sure) and a cord to plug it into the tv, I think it's called a rgb or rvg cord, which you can buy basically anywhere...
