I've done research on gold filled, because I didn't know anything about it. They say it will last a lifetime if properly taken care of better than gold plated. Plated items it eventually wears down. Since the gold and metal has been heated together it makes them stronger and the outside color of the gold will stay shinier and brighter for years and not come off like the plated. And, it's great for sensitive skin. I would now buy filled before I would buy plated any day now. I hope this helps. Read how they do it on the bottom of the description in the listing hon. Thanks!
