Questions & Comments
This is a gold filled piece, as 12K was only used for gold filled, very common for that time period and for these hinged bracelets. Gold filled means more gold is used than just plating; but the base metal is brass. GF pieces are desirable as they remain shiny and are higher quality than electroplated gold pieces, which did not start until after 1900s.
While researching this item I found the ones from the 1910s are Marked gold filled or 12k This one only has hallmark of mh&co Meaning an early date of 1890s Which were mostly 12k So I don't think it's gold filled But I'm not sure If any one knows more about this Maker please let us know
I was trying to do some research on this bracelet & saw one by the same company go for $175 bucks on Ebay recently. So it must really cost much more. F/W&B.
Well, I have to tell you, I have let my points get a little low and the bidding has bypassed me, or I would be all over this piece. It is so rare that a really nice old piece comes along. Good luck.
