No ma'am. These are very cold hardy. You can put them in the ground, cover with about 2 inches of soil. Mine are still blooming, but other areas, they may be time to sleep for the winter. They will multiply and come back more & more & bigger & bigger. If you want -you can also-put them in a pot, for the winter, but they wont spread as much. Just plant them out in spring! Easy care!!

I have some but I bought them & didn't even realize they bloomed..lol I seen them blooming & I was like OMGosh! TY Ladies have a Blessed weekend!

They are kinda expensive to buy. One bulb for $2.50 + shipping on Ebay. But yes they bloom little pinkypurplish flowers. so far I cant figure out where the seeds are dropping from, the flower I guess, but I make sure when the flower starts to dwindle, it is inside my pot to re-seed more! LoL!

I live in Chicago and I have them growing indoor and outdoor. This is my first year so i shall see if the tubers multiply AND make it through our cold winter. I really LOVE this plant. Not only are the leaves interesting but the little flowers are really cute. I have these in green also but they didn't get as big and weren't near as pretty to look at.

I have done the same, indoor & outdoor, in the ground and in pots. They survived days on end of 3-5 degrees last winter outside. They are very cold hardy. Also they will grow in sun or shade-but in shade-the tend to get more deeper purple I noticed. Maybe try that with your green ones?
