I have cane in my yard now; doing great. We are on the line between zone 7 and zone 8. Will this live outside during the winter or is this a bamboo that must be in when cold weather hits?

I've always had this plant indoors, I have not read that it can be grown outdoors, but I honestly don't know, so if someone here does, please let me know!
