Canada stopped minting one cent coins after 2012. Banks are now returning them to the government to be melted down so they will be getting more and more scarce as time goes by until the government stops melting them down.Cents were minted with two different metal compositions in 2011, copper plated steel (magnetic) and copper plated zinc (non-magnetic). This is a steel specimen.
