The listing, Banknote; Canada; 1 dollar; 1954 Modified Portrait; Regular Issue; AU-UNC; + BONUS has ended.
Thank you for browsing.
My favourite part of 'treasure hunting' is being able to share some of my booty with my Listian friends and, as hunting has gone well, this is one of a number of new treasures listed.
Though I've had a previous auction of a similar (1954) banknote (in circulated condition), the condition of this one is nearly immaculate – as can be seen in the photographs, and is demonstrated by the grade.
The winner of this auction will receive one (1) 1954 Canada 1 dollar bill regular issue with the modified portrait (of Queen) in almost uncirculated to uncirculated (AU-UNC) condition. Signatures are J.R. Beattie and L. Raminsky.
PLEASE NOTE - This banknote was graded as Almost Uncirculated to Uncirculated condition and you will receive the exact banknote shown in the photographs. The grading was done by a third party from whom I purchase regularly - and trust implicitly for their expertise and honesty. This is the non-Devil's Face banknote. Coin easel NOT included. ;-)
BONUS - This banknote will come, as shown in the photos, with a semi-rigid bill holder.
Questions and comments are always welcome. Thank you for your interest and supporting Listia. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please feel free to send me a Listia email - you just never know. :-)
INTERESTING FACT - “Shortly, after the 1954 issue notes appeared in circulation it was noticed that certain highlighted portions of the queen's hair created the illusion of a devil’s face peering out from behind her ear. The “Devil's Face' portrait created enough controversy that it was decided to modify the queen's hair thereby creating two varieties of the queen's portrait on this issue.” CoC 2014
