Yes it does take a sd card, it has a 64 in there now, yes good for all types of photos

Yes there is slight wear on the screen, just from touching other items there are no deep scratches, and when the camera is on, it is perfectly clear without any wear showing.

Does this take an SD card or a bigger, thinner smart media card? I thought this model had a factory battery. How old is it?

Yes you can upgrade the ad card, this model takes 4 double A batteries. Not sure of the age, would need to do some resurch on it.

I enlarged it enough to see it is a 4040, which does NOT TAKE AN SD CARD at all. It takes what is called a SMART MEDIA CARD, which cost between $10-$35.00. You said it has a 64 in it? That is 64MB if it is a smart media card. So now I am a little confused, this is a pretty old camera, it came out in 2001. Are you SURE it is still functional?
