The listing, VINTAGE"NIELLO"BRACELET&EARRING SET has ended.

Hello everyone, I hope all is well ! I have here today a
very pretty set consisting of a bracelet and clip earrings.
This set was my Mom's and as she told me.....this was
given to her from a close family friend she went to high school with. My Mom and dad used to go double dating with this other couple in high school. My mom and her were best friend and Dad and Cliff were best friends and they all were planning to get married when each finished high school. As Cliff was a few years older he went to
become a Paratrooper and enlisted in the Korean war.
He brought gifts home from Korea for everyone and this set was Mom's. It is called "Niello" which means burnt. It is a process where the whole piece is burned or charred to black. It is then etched and carved to show the design
intended. The set has Birds in flight and flowers. It is also a male/female clasp that works perfectly and has a safety chain. No damage, (may need a cleaning) and over all condition is Mint. Will fit up to a 7 inch wrist. One inch Clips are firm and excellent......thank you for looking!

You know so much. I really appreciate the education! I've only seen this type of jewelry titled as Damascene. Would you possibly know what Damascene actually stands for? Possibly the type of scene etched on to the jewelry? A F, & W

Hello Susan...It basically means the same....Asian countries tend to call it "Niello"
and French and European tend to call it Damascene... It is the process....that is behind both names for this....the burning and etching....that is what I learned and hope I am passing on correctly. I do know though...I have had this for over 30 + yrs. and it does not tarnish. I have a Gold tester and like many things....I put them where so I wont forget where they are. Guess what I cant find it because I forgot where I put it....LOL. Getting old is no fun ! I'm your fan and thanks for watching.

I'll second that on the getting old. Lol. Your right, it doesn't tarnish. I've acquired a few pieces over the years. Every " Niello " piece I've come across, including the pieces I have are all a high quality gold filled or 14k, even the ones that aren't marked. Hi Julie, I once went to the Alamo and loved it. Glad you had a good time with
the niece. Can't wait to check out your auctions. I'm not very well the past few days
with my RA and 2 Ear Infections too. Was really out of it for a couple of days. It's getting better now. I've been making pair butter and pear mincemeat.....mmm so
good. Only 3 more boxes to go. Then 1 more batch of Apple Sauce and I'm done for the year. Might even be forever. Hard on my RA this year, feels like it accelerated the joint swelling and pain in my hands. I love it so. I know the day
will come when I cant do it anymore. So glad you caught yours, stay healthy my
friend and have a fantabulous week!
