There's no way I can fit into these, so no I haven't tried them on. They are 100% cotton (no spandex) so I'm inclined to believe they don't stretch. Hope that's of some help.

helps a little lol if i knew for sure they was womens then i kno i could wear them lol. they would be a little big but i could wear them.

I just called a local GAP and spoke with an associate who told me that they only go up to size 16 for children, and that she thought the shorts are probably for a woman, since it is a size 18. I also took a tape measure and measured the waist and it measures approximately 42". I hope this helps.
