I have never used it since it is new. But my understanding of how it works is like this. You should have a USB cord that fits your phone. That cord then also plugs in to the phone charger.

The package states that it includes a USB charging cable, the external battery pack and a user manual. The outside of the package says that it is a Power Pack for Smartphones.
