I was given a challenge to create a gravy for family occasions that no one else usually brought. I wanted something that was super flavorful, and knew onions would be a wise choice. When my dad first tasted it he told me he would eat it as soup. I've always gotten great reviews when I serve this and now I'm offering to spread the recipe on to you.This recipe does take some time to cook, but it is worth it if you can spare the time. The recipe is enough for more than one meal for a family of 4, and does freeze well. I will also include a variation that adds mushrooms for those who want a meatier flavor in the gravy.
