quesiton? does this record both cd and dvd?
question? can cords be purchased at walmart or radio shack?
question? is this external from computer or does it have to be installed? if external then what - does it connect to hard drive through usb cable?
I ask because I am not very computer cabable but can do simple stuff.

This recorder does record both cd and dvd, the cords would most likely be available at radio shack - but probably not at walmart, and this item is internal and would have to be installed. It does not connect through a usb cable. Overall I would say that installing this drive would not be on the simple side of things.

thanks...Actually I find installing new hardware to my computer far easier than actually using the darn thing...tell me this please - would this be compatible with dell and / or gateway?

No problem. This should realistically be compatible with any PC. I do not have the software that goes along with this drive, but windows should find a driver for it after it's installed.
