Description

The listing, Live Java Moss - golf ball sized portion, FREE SHIPPING has ended.

Live Java Moss. Approximately a golf ball sized portion.

Very healthy. Excellent for any freshwater aquarium. (not for saltwater)

Medium to low light is all that's needed to keep it alive.

One neat way to utilize it in your aquarium, is to use fishing line and wrap part of the moss around a piece of driftwood or a rock. The moss will then grow as if it's a carpet on whatever object it was tied down to. Or just let it float around inside the aquarium.

Please do not ask for a GIN.

Java moss will be shipped in a zip lock bag with minimal water (so as to avoid possible leaking and to keep from having a hassle with the post office). It will arrive happy and healthy, though be prepared to place it in your aquarium the day you receive it.

I will be listing other portions of this Java Moss after this auction is completed as I need to thin my tank out a bit.

Ok thank you, I was just wondering cause I had lost my tank to a heat wave here were I live, and am looking to start it back up. For your cray fish listing on estimate how much eggs do they lay and how many make it?

The older they get the more eggs that get developed. The eggs stay attacked to the underside of their tail and when they hatch, the babies stay attached as well for several days before going out and exploring on their own. They are TINY when first born. After about a year, it's not uncommon for one of the crayfish to have 100 or more at a time. If you have a small tank, even though they are not aggressive, they will fight over territory and eat each other. They are hard to catch when very small but if you can get them moved to other tanks, you can have thousands of crayfish in a year. Lots of people keep them in order to have live food for other fish such as cichlids. If you have more than one adult in a tank they usually will not develop eggs. It's amazing how they develop and live. There are studies being done on this self cloning crayfish as a food source in poor countries where they don't get a lot of protein from cattle, chickens, pigs etc because they can't afford it. But as an aquarium pet they are just awesome.

The average over the last few months that people have bid on this is around 6000. For GIN I lose more credits but if you want it, I'll setup a GIN for 6500k but if someone bids first I won't be able to.

I'm pretty sure I've read in other forums where moss does not like any kind of significant salt in the water. I sometimes put a little salt in my freshwater tanks but no where near brackish levels since I keep just freshwater fish right now.
