1) read the rules regarding responsibilities, etc, of sellers & buyers. It will save you a world of grief.
2) it helps - a lot - to attach photos of the item being offered, as well as a really good desc with measurements.

Most people are hesitant to bid on photo-less auctions, and usually refuse to on one from a new seller.
