The listing, Texas Bluebonnet Wildflower Seeds (10) Great gift! has ended.
This listing is for 10 freshly hand harvested, organically grown Texas bluebonnet seeds. The photos are of the blooming bluebonnets in a field at my Mom’s place in East Texas this spring. This may be one of only a few auctions for them because I have missed the peak time for harvesting. There were a few seed pods intact, but most have popped. It gets quite warm in the hot Texas sun out looking. I did manage to get a few, but I do want to plant some here so that I won’t miss the seeds next time. Plus I want to enjoy them! But I will try to collect some more, just can’t guarantee what I will find.
Lupinus subcarnosus Hook.
Sandyland bluebonnet, Texas bluebonnet
Fabaceae (Pea Family)
The Texas bluebonnet is a 6-16 in. winter annual. The bright-blue, pea-like flowers have a white center which turns purple with age or pollination. These showy flowers occur in a loose terminal spike. Leaves are palmately divided into five leaflets. Texas Bluebonnets mixed with various paintbrushes adorn roadsides, a colorful sign of spring in Texas.
The seeds will be shipped in a ziplock bag inside a first class envelope the next day. I will even include an information card with a photo of the flower. That way you don't lose track of what the seeds were and what the flowers look like. I know that has happened to me on more than one occasion. This card will include instructions on how to grow Bluebonnets. I try to present the seeds and card in such a way that you could very well send them on as a gift to someone who loves flowers.
I will be getting the information from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center here in Texas. If you would like to learn more about this wonderful flower now, you can visit the site at:
