Thank you for browsing.
ARRRRR....fresh from recent pillaging, I bring you treasures commemorating heroes of a forgotten war that helped define a country.
On June 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain, initiating two years of intense fighting. British North American forces fought tenaciously to preserve the way of life of a future Canada. In recognition of their bravery, the Mint has created five circulation coins to commemorate these defining moments of the War of 1812.
The winner of this auction will receive four (4) Canadian 2012 twenty-five cent (quarter) ‘War of 1812’ commemorative coins, in brilliant uncirculated condition. From this series are: ‘Sir Isaac Brock’ (2nd pic) and ‘Tecumseh’ (3rd pic); ‘Charles-Michel de Salaberry’ (4th pic); and Laura Secord (5th pic). (Please see my other auctions for the coloured versions.)
The metal composition is nickel-plated steel; diameter: 23.88 mm; weight: 4.4 grams.
PLEASE NOTE - The winner will receive one (1) of each coin for a total of four (4) coins in brilliant uncirculated condition and will receive the exact coins shown in the photographs. Three (3) of the coins will come, as shown, in the original RCM wrapper and (1) – Brock – is freshly removed from a mint roll and will come in a coin flip. Coin easels NOT included.
