The vial is 1 1/2" including the cork and is sealed. It contains a little sand but the majority is crushed amethyst. There is a silver toned pentegram and a feather with a rose on it. The chain I got off of Listia. It is suppose to be a 16" Sterling Silver chain but I cannot find the markings. I added a 4" extension. It is not sterling silver! It is a very beautiful necklace.
