FREE: Vintage set of 3 Sailor Nesting Dolls Polish

The listing, Vintage set of 3 Sailor Nesting Dolls Polish has ended.

This set from the 1970's was made in Poland. It is called a sailor family and depicts the father, mother and child, all dressed in navy and white sailor suits. The father holds a brown pipe in his hand.

The polish sets are quite different than the Russian nesting dolls. They created several family sets and some are very rare now. They also created a lot of the fairy tale sets, of which I have had and sold.

For collectors, they are special because they didn't mass produce them like the Russians, Chinese and Japanese. They also are known for their little protruding noses on the main doll. The main one measures 6".

They have a label on the bottom marked "Made in Poland", obviously as souvenirs.

They are listed in the book, "A Collector's Guide to Nesting Dolls" by Michele Lyons Lefkovitz
