How come when I bid I get outbid right away?

Listia uses an auction system called “Proxy Bidding,” which means that when you bid on an auction you are bidding the maximum amount of credits you are willing to spend. Once Listia receives your bid we will hold the total amount of credits you entered, but will apply just enough of those credits for you to be the highest bidder. The rest of the credits are only used if someone else bids enough to raise the highest bid, but not enough to completely outbid you. One of the nice things about a proxy bid system is that you don’t have to be present while the auction is advancing because the system does it automatically for you.
