The listing, Limoges China Fairy Lamps (2) Really Pretty has ended.
Hello to all of my Listia friends! I've missed you, but I had to spend some quality time with my Etsy shop.
Here for your pleasure, two beautiful, I mean really nice, fairy lamps. First thing, the mark on these says "Limoges China" in silver, on the bottom of each. In all my research I am unable to find any time that Limoges of France, the one we all know and respect, has ever marked their items that way. So, take it for what it's worth.
These are truly gorgeous. The pink flowers against the white, with the greenery make them pop. They are also PERFECT.
I mean perfect. The gold that rims around each piece as well as the handles is perfect. I don't think any gold has worn off. I really don't believe they were used. I bought them at an auction from the police dept. Figure that out!!
Confiscated goods...unclaimed robbery evidence.
Fairy lamps are candle burning lights. Their popularity peaked during Victorian times. The shape of these reflects just that. The first to appear were marked with a fairy and a wand. Since then they have been called "fairy lamps". The top that is removeable is called the dome. The piece that holds the tea candle is a lamp cup. The lamp cup appears to be sitting in a dish or catch-all. That piece is attached to the lamp cup. So, these particular lamps are two pieces each. You get both.
You can see in the photos they don't provide much light, but they do provide just enough to see. It depends what you want to see or how much of it!
So, have fun bidding. I have found some lovely things for my Listia friends. It's just a matter of taking the pictures and posting them.
These will ship free to your Listia verified address. All Listia rules apply.
Questions are very welcome. Thank you all very much for making my previous auctions fun and successful. I like to offer the best of what I can't use or wish to pass on.
