The listing, VINTAGE 1984 Maximum Card POSTCARD Bophuthatswana PLATINUM MINES has ended.
A maximum card is an illustrated postcard that has one or more stamps and cancels. Illustration, stamps and cancel are all on the same common theme.
Located in southern Africa, Bophuthatswana has platinum mines, which account for two-thirds of the total platinum production in the Western world.
This Maximum Card shows a large platinum mine from the air, the Bophuthatswana stamp shows some of the mining operation, and the cancellation which ties the stamp and card together is Mmabatho, which is the capitol of Bophuthatswana.
As you know there is always overthrowing of governments and name changes, but in 1984 when this card was produced, this is the way it was, and as far as I know, still is.
I believe this is the very last one in a large collection of Maximum Cards that I acquired many years ago. If you collect these cards, this one is in excellent condition!
Card will be shipped in a first class reinforced envelope. This method does not have tracking, so be sure you are agreeable to that before you bid.
