The listing, Blue potato true seed has ended.
These are seed pods harvested from my blue potato plants in August. most potatoes don't (or rarely) set seed so they are propagated but planting potato pieces. Blue potatoes are an old variety and produce lots of pods full of true seed.
The seeds are started and grown just like tomatoes. Unlike plants grown from potato pieces plants grown from seed won't be clones of the parent plant but will show variety in the plants and potatoes produced. if you grow a potato you really like from the true seed you can propagate it by planting pieces of it to get a clone.
i love the possibility of maybe discovering new interesting varieties of potota by growing from true seed.
Free shipping as always. Any questions just ask.
oh, I forgot to add that while the picture of the seed pods (which contain plenty of seeds each) is my own picture but the picture of the blue potatoes are a stock photo representing what my potatoes looked like at harvest. I didn't think to take a picture then.
