For Auction is an exceptionally nice United Kingdom large bronze 1 Penny coin dated 1939. Nice shape, please see the pictures to grade. It is a large coin, about the size of a 1/2 dollar, almost 1 1/4 inches across. In 1939 England was ruled by King George VI (Great-grandson of Queen Victoria) from 1936 until his death in 1952. He was very popular during WWII, when this coin was made, because he stayed in Buckingham Palace even though it was bombed 9 times and visited the troops whenever possible. His picture is on the front of this coin. Great coin for any collection, great gift and a great investment!I bought a box of coins from a client years ago that she had gotten from a relative that sailed the oceans aboard merchant ships from the late 1800's to WWII. This is one of the coins he collected.
