Another item from my extensive oriental collection which has been in storage for 20+ years.

This is a Chinese, hand painted, real egg shell (there is a tiny hole int the bottom of the shell) with a black enameled stand.

The painting is very brightly colored, and very detailed and intricate. I believe the writing on the back is the artist's signature.

The egg measures about 2 1/2" X 1 3/4". The stand measures 1 1/2" in diameter at the bottom and 3/4" high.

Traditionally, these hand painted eggs were given as gifts for weddings, housewarming and births. They were displayed on pedestals and usually encased in glass. I had this under a glass dome when I had my oriental collection displayed.
