If it says 10KGF it is gold filled. That's what the GF stands for. This piece is not solid 10k. And it also says electroplated which also means it is not solid 10k gold. I hope this helps. What the stamps on this means that the chain and shield are gold filled and the locking clamp is electroplated.

My husband has big wrists... Does this measure 9" closed or from end to end open? ... I just wonder how much of the clasp will take up of the bracelet since one end feeds in to the other...

Oh dang. His wrist is 8 inches around. So a 9" bracelet would've been perfect. Wish it was 4.5 inches closed :( it's hard to find a bracelet that long.

No it hasn't been tested to see if it's purity & the only thing it says on the back is 10KGF chain & shield & the thing that go's into the other thing says speidel USA gold electroplated
