The listing, Antique POSTCARD Art by Carlos Vasquez circa 1920s has ended.
This card has been in my collections since the early 1990s. It is such an interesting subject! Evidently the lady in the view is running down the steps from a bullfighting ring (perhaps she did not like the gore associated with that "sport".)
This image was used on an advertising card for “La Gloria” luxury biscuits and sponge cakes of Barcelona, based on a painting by Carlos Vasquez. Carlos Vázquez was a successful and much heralded artist. “El Torero Herido” was exhibited at the Paris salon in 1910.
Postcard is from Spain, Fototipia Lacoste, Madrid. This was found in a photo album of French cards, mainly from the 1920s (and you can see the very very slight album impression marks on the corners), but it may be a slightly earlier card. It's in excellent condition.
Smoke-free home.
Card will be shipped in a reinforced first class envelope which carries no tracking. So please be agreeable to that method of shipping before you bid.
