The listing, Silver Butter Server with Glass tray insert (Crescent) has ended.
This is a Crescent Butter dish manufactured between 1927 and 1936. It is stamped on the bottom with "Crescent" and three imprints, a (lion?) a crescent moon, and a (bird?) and 79BF. It has four legs, that it stands on. This design made it easier to keep butter colder, by keeping the bottom up off of surfaces that could transfer heat. The glass tray, keeps butter from touching and harming the silver, and is removable, so you can place the butter into the refrigerator, not the silver dish. It is tarnished on the outside, but I didn't want to polish it and diminish its value. The inside of the lid (shown in the picture) is not tarnished, but shows that great "french gold" color that silver gets with age. There are no chips or flaws in either the glass tray, or the silver dish.
