The fabric is considered a soft wool, but acts and feels more like a heavier than normal cotton. I've made other things with this type of fabric and it holds up nicely in wearing conditions. Doesn't show wrinkles from sitting, if you iron it, just use a light iron setting, washes in cold water. I wouldn't put it in a dryer, because it will cause it to pill like fleece or flannel.
