Description
The listing, 1942 THREE PENCE coins GREAT BRITAIN UK foreign George VI England WWII era has ended.
Nice 1942 3 pence brass coin from England. This Brass Three Pence is dodecahedral (twelve sided) making it the first British coin to not use the tried and tested circle shape. The Brass Three Pence was struck from 1937 to 1952 excluding 1947, the brass alloy used was 79% copper, 20% zinc and 1% nickel. The 1 % nickel was added to decrease the rate at which the brass would tarnish helping the coin keep its nice golden colour. The diameter is 21 millimetres and it weighs approximately 6.8 grams. A little dirt or something on one corner, uncleaned coin. Produced during WWII when George VI was King of England. Would make a great addition to any collection, investment or a great gift!
I bought a box of coins from a client years ago that she had gotten from a relative that sailed the oceans aboard merchant ships from the late 1800's to WWII. This is one of the coins he collected.
