The listing, 1925 coin 2 dinar Kingdom of Serbs Croats and Slovenes has ended.

Old 1925 Balkan coin. Inscription is in Cyrillic and reads:

obverse: 2 dinara - translates to: 2 Dinars

reverse: Aleksandar 1 kralj Srba Hrvata I Slovenaca
translates to: Aleksandar 1st king of Serbs Croats and Slovenes. That's the Kingdom that preceded formation of now former Yugoslavia. Designer Diane Von Furstenberg is distantly related to king Aleksandar of Serbia.

Third photo is with a similar sized American coin for size comparison, which is not included LOL.

Coin metal is Anhapa Silver - a nickel/bronze alloy.

Is it silver?

As stated in listing: NO. It is a nickel/bronze alloy known as Anhapa silver.

As there are Alpaca and Tibetan "silver" alloys, the silver refers to color not metal itself. So, NO it's not sterling silver.

Given the time period although this is from the Serbian region, this is perhaps more readily a Yugoslavian coin as Alexander the first changed the name of the country to that but I don't have a date (working on that). It comes from an interesting time in Geopolitics Post WWI and Pre WWII. The Birth of communism on the Geopolitical world stage as a mover and shaker for reform against Monarch Tyranny. I have found a 1915 and a 1938 reference and pictures. Still working to locate this one. Best of luck on the auction. I will be watching.

Found the 1925 reference and also a value table for this. It was listed under Yugoslavian but as a precursor to the formal Yugoslavian Coins. Which I guess is everything you said. Sorry, I just had to reread it a couple times. Still working on learning about 'Anhapa'. Thanks for sharing.

I just know the name for the alloy. If you have the time to find out the word origin, I'd be grateful. The alloy was used throughout South Europe in the early 1900's. I have Romanian and Bulgarian coins of the same metal as well.
