This auction is for 45 seeds from our beautiful Sunflowers that provide us with a natural privacy fence from late summer until frost, provide shade, shelter, food and perches for the birds.

They are very easy to grow, and will self reseed. We are in Zone 5, and they come back every year in our clay soil.

These Sunflowers are similar to Maximillian in the seed catalogs. They are small seeds. They grow from 6-9 feet tall with numerous 3-4 inch bright yellow blooms on a thick stalk. They are not the huge Sunflowers we are used to with the big seeds, but they make beautiful cut flower arrangements. The close-up photo makes them look bigger than they actually are.

We have an acreage, and I love a maintenance-free, 'wild, natural' yard. Our neighbors are not close, but they don't know what to think of it! I love it!
I planted clover instead of grass. When they are out mowing and spraying and watering ... I'm NOT. We never use chemicals in our yard.

I can't wait for them to come into full bloom! Some are starting to bloom now.

You don't have to grow as many as I do, they can be planted in a row at the edge of a yard.

A friend has a 6-8' round flower bed in her small front yard that she plants Sunflowers in the center, with medium and short flowers and herbs around them. It looks awesome, and shades her driveway in the summe, in the spot where she parks her car!
