The listing, Antique 118 Year Old Elementary Geography Book~1897~Very Interesting Reading! has ended.

This natural elementary geography book was published in 1897 by American book company. There are many illustrations of buildings that probably are not there anymore. It shows a grain elevator in Chicago, stockyards in Chicago and a railway hub Chicago. It also shows people harvesting wheat by hand and horses. This is a fascinating book to read, look through, and share. This is before the automobile so is very interesting to see what life was like. It is before 'politically correct' was coined, so a lot of the reading is quite interesting. This book does have a few little tears in the pages but is not many. The binding is pretty tight and the edges are worn. The book has a small bow to it but it is not bad for a 118 year old book. Thank you for looking at this auction, please see all of the pictures.

I love the look of this book, but I have a couple of questions about it. The copyright was 1897, but it was the 48th printing. What was the date of print? Did they have the ability to print en masse maps in color back then? Just wondering is all.

I have 5 antique books that display beautifully in my foyer....One is an antique Home Economics Book from the early 1900's that is chocked full of old recipes that are incredible~plus it has photos of the "modern day" kitchen...These types of books make the collector very Happy:)
