Enlarge pic 2 for full description...A very good, not long (198 pages) teen novel that is suitable for grown ups, too. Very well written, not all angsty and over-wrought like many of a similar nature. Definitely the story of an outsider, but an outsider who used to be an insider and the "why" of her shunning starts as a secret that is slowly revealed through the book in a very satisfying way. I like this book, it was realistic, not filled with teen jargon and swear words but felt very much a part of that world. 1999 National Book Award Finalist for good reason.

The book itself was a Listia win and now you can be a winner, too! Cover has a crease at the edge, pages are soft from having been read so many times. No folded over corners that I could find, spine is bent but not broken. Slight water stain at the bottom of the first few pages, but no pen or pencil marks anywhere, etc. In quite readable, but clearly not new condition. What a lovely thing to have a book that has already been appreciated and broken in. A book-lover's book and a story-lover's story. I recommend it if you like good writing.
