What is a tin type?

A Tin Type is a photo that was started in 1856 and before that they had ferrotypes. It is an application where the photo were lpaced on sheets of tin. Hense the name tin type photo. If you ever watched any of the cowboy movies and you see them take pictures in it, they are taking tin type photo's.
