Boning is what gives the corset shape. In many corsets, there will be long strands of plastic, steel, or in historic garments, whale bone. Very high quality corsets have steel boning, but they are generally priced accordingly. So I am guessing plastic boning? It's sort of like what they use in underwire bras :) Hope I explained this ok?
