The listing, Shell Oil US States of the Union Bronze Coin - INDIANA has ended.
This listing is for a Shell Oil US States of the Union Bronze Coin - INDIANA
A little history about the Shell Oil Company - US States of the Union Bronze Coins:
Back in the late 1960s, the Shell Oil Company ran a massive advertising campaign using collector coins. I am not sure if they helped the oil company, but they sure helped coin collecting. Back then (not like now) you could find valuable coins in pocket change and it became popular to scour over your change!
Shell capitalized on this pastime and gave these collector state coins to folks who bought their gasoline!
The front of this Indiana State coin has the shape of the state and if you look closely at the bottom of the state, you will see "Shell". It also includes the Capital City of Indianapolis and along the bottom of the coin reads "The 19th State."
The reverse side includes:
• An open winged eagle at the top of the coin
• Indiana - The Hoosier State
• Admitted to the Union on December 11, 1816
• Flower - Peony
• Bird - Cardinal
* I have only a few of these coins! Check out the others!!
