Description
The listing, 25 Monkey Face Chili Peppers has ended.
A peculiar name for an extraordinary chile pepper. The plants are short (about a foot and a half) and the chiles range in length from 2 to 5 inches. The chiles are hot, be warned!
Questions & Comments
Are these a hybrid or heirloom? Bid, fanned and watching.
Well, that is a good question! I have scoured the internet as well as Google and can not find it anywhere to say that the Monkey Face Chili Pepper is a Hybrid and as far as Heirloom, I found this tidbit of information from a Gardener's Forum regarding the term Heirloom: • "Heirloom: This is a troublesome term. It is an open-pollinating plant but after that the definition is cloudy. Some say an heirloom is any variety that has been grown for more than 50 years. Others, such as Seed Savers, identify "heirlooms by verifying and documenting the generational history of preserving and passing on the seed."" So, that is what I could find and I hope that helped answer your question. :-)
To me, hybrid means if you plant the seeds and do not get same pepper...so heirloom to me means if you plant the seeds you do get same pepper. May be over simplified but then so am I.
Well, I "googled" it and found the same exact picture as you have posted!...yes, they are a hybrid...also called Jamaicain habenaro, so the seed wont give the same plant/pepper. Hate to say but I hope to be outbid. I want heirlooms, that is, I want to plant seeds from my peppers and grow same peppers. Thank you and good luck.
I don't find that information but good luck to all that bid. I bought these seeds from an heirloom seeds distributor. Feel free to post your link as I couldn't find it. Thanks.
