Description

The listing, Trinket box with red velvet lining has ended.

This box looks really old. Not sure how old because it was given to me by a man cleaning out his grandmother's place, said she had "to many things." (I appreciate all gifts, especially useful ones so I end up with all kinds of stuff from all over the place.) He was around 30 yrs old so his grandma had to be up there.

The silver is tarnished. (A friend said she could tell it was sterling from the tarnishing, not sure how that is but I trust her- she knows her stuff!)

There are flowers/ vines all over the box. On the bottom part, I could feel part of it raised up- perhaps an identifying feature of the item. Not sure. If anyone know any history on it I would appreciate some information. It would help the item description.

I would do a GIN but I don't know enough about it.

I need a magnifying glass, I can feel imprints but my vision is bad even with glasses. Where on it do you think it would be? I will inspect it but I thought only jewelry had that marked on it.

Magnet Test

Silver is not a magnetic metal. This means it does not react in the presence of a large magnet. If a piece reacts to a magnet, it is composed of a metal that is not genuine silver. A regular house magnet does not have enough pull to work for this test; so silver owners should invest in a strong magnet, such as a rare earth magnet

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder :) if you kike it doesn't matter what its made of . Very pretty . I only want to know one thing is the dark color part of the finish or just dirt from years of handling ? Thank you for your time .
