just slice as you would normally- i'd recommend the cheese be from the freezer or the refrigerator, it's got to be cold, or else it won't be as effective

Whoops wrong item. Put the tool in the onion to hold it steady. With your other hand slice the onion, adjusting when you are done with half of the onion. Repeat until the entire onion is cut. You can use with other veggies too.
