I presume gold plated. since my skin is very sensitive to plated jewelery and as long as I have worn these, my skin has never broke out nor has the jewelery ever tarnished or wore off. I also clean my jewelry with jewelery cleaner and it has never 'ate' away at the plating (so to speak) either.
