I understand, used to make them with Apple gourds for wrens. I thought about doing bigger gourds because my hands do not work like they used to, and the tiny brush strokes are harm for me now.
Sorry to hear that.. you might be good with this size, its cleaning them that's the hardest part. Hard on the hands. It takes a lot of patience as you probably know. I am going to list another one after this auction. Its a little smaller than this one.. you'll have to come visit with me again :-)
I'm a little confused by your question. This auction is for the actual item in the pictures which is a bird house made from a gourd that I grew. This is not for seeds. Is this your question?
I honestly don't remember the exact number, I have a tool to do this, but small birds like sparrows use mine. I did have a couple of colorful birds a little bigger than a sparrow use one of them as well last year. The birds spend hours filling the inside of the gourd up, its cute to watch them in progress.
Its probably close to that.. I got a head start today and packed it up ready to ship tomorrow morning lol. Its quite a process to make these. It was dried for 1 year and then cleaned inside and out. Very labor intensive!! It was then decorated and multiple layers of sealant added to protect it from the weather. Mine stay out all year.
