Description
The listing, Handmade Gourd Dolls Native American has ended.
These dolls were made by me using 3 different kinds of gourds. I used a banana gourd for the body and neck, an egg for the head and a piece of a regular gourd for the base. I added paper clay to mold the faces, black mohair wool for the hair, made small pine needle baskets for them to carry their sticks they are picking up. I also used goatskin, rabbit fur, feather for the dress, etc.
They measure approximately 7" tall. These will come with a card signed by me.
Questions & Comments
Are these available for local pick up? I'm in Carrollton too and would love these :) Great auction!
Oh NO!!! Dont say these are the last ! I ( we ) Just found these. I want these to go in my bedroom. It is all Indian dolls !! And other Indian stuff !! I love these !!!!
I don't do any of them anymore as sales for hobbies like these are just not where they used to be. I used to do hours of making these gourd dolls now they are hard to sell.
Omg these are amazing!!!! you have a true gift!!!! not sure any bid i made would do you or them justice. however, i too live close and if i win would like to pick them up if thats ok?
that would be fine. A lot of people don't understand the amount of work that goes into these. One reason I don't do them anymore. But I did enjoy it when I was doing them. Won several prizes at State Fair of Texas and Texas Gourd Society.
